Detailed Look at Upcoming Air Jordan 5 “Fire Red” Retro

Jordan fanatics are in for a treat as Jordan Brand is preparing to re-release the Air Jordan 5 “Fire Red” in the truest form we’ve seen since it’s original release in 1990.

There have been a few retro releases of the Fire Red 5s, most notably in 2006, 2013, and 2020. The 2020 version has been considered the most authentic to the original as it’s the only one that has the coveted Nike Air branding on the heel instead of the Jumpman logo. But with its reflective tongue and color-swapped midsole, it just wasn’t a perfect one-to-one recreation. Now, in 2025, Jordan Brand is finally delivering what many fans have been waiting for — a version that looks and feels closer than ever to the iconic 1990 original.

Thanks to IG user @xcsnkr, who scored an early pair, we now have a detailed first look at the upcoming 2025 Air Jordan 5 “Fire Red” — and it’s probably the closest we’re going to get to the original 1990 release. This version brings back all the essential elements: a clean white leather upper with fire red accents, a black tongue, accurate midsole color blocking, and yes, the coveted Nike Air branding on the heel. The only modern tweak is the icy blue outsole, which replaces the original clear version – a change that’s become standard as clear soles are gradually being phased out.

The Air Jordan 5 “Fire Red” is set for release on September 13th in adult ($210) and big kid ($160) sizes through all the usual outlets.
