Some colorways are simply just a mix of random colors that happen to look good together, while others are inspired by something specific. The Beef and Broccoli color scheme fits the latter part of that. Originally appearing on a pair of Timberland boots, the brown and green color palette is said to have been inspired by the colors seen in the Chinese-American dish, beef and broccoli.
Since it’s appearance on a pair of Timberland’s, the Beef and Broccoli color scheme has frequently been recycled throughout the sneaker industry, as seen here on a pair of Air Max 90’s slated to drop next year. Designed with urban explorers in mind with the use of more durable materials than usual, the sneakers utilize a standard suede, mesh and leather construction throughout the upper in a mix of deep green and brown hues. The pair don’t look anymore durable than a regular pair of Air Max 90’s, but we can see on the tongue that an extra layer of material in a chain link pattern has been added as part of the effort to increase the ruggedness of the model for the adventurous type.
Pictures of the Nike Air Max 90 “Beef and Broccoli” follow below and a retail release will happen sometime next year as of Nike’s Spring 2025 collection. The current $130 price tag remains as of now.
